Salem 602 Super Cars
Chassis:
Any chassis certified from NASCAR/ARCA competition as per their Rules and Regulations.
Front Suspension:
1) Must have a steering box (NO rack and pinion)
2) Spindles must be forged steel. NO lightened or fabricated spindles
3) Sway Bar can be NO larger than 1 3/4” ends
Rear Suspension:
1) Must have 51” trailing arms (truck type) CAN be fabricated.2) Track Bar: Tube type with Hiems on each end.
Shocks:
One Steet nonadjustable shock per wheel. Maximum cost of $200. Any shock determined to have a new price of more than $200 with be subject to $200 claim. No machined body (late model style) smooth or threaded shocks allowed. No Schardervalve. No bump stops. Travel indicator required. Shock claim format TBA.
Springs:
Springs must be in original location. No pigtail springs. Springs must set on unaltered lower A-frame pocket. Spring wire maximum diameter: Front .860 Rear .650 Minimum 800 lbs. front springs. No coil bind, no bump, no bump stops.Weight jacks permitted. No more than one springrubber allowed per spring.

GM 602 engine. GM # 19433602
Must have factory seals (cap type only NO break off bolts) or certified seals approved by The Salem Speedway Tech Director.
Oil Pan:
Can be changed to Champ Pans # CP100LTRB. Must be sealed by the Tech Director.
Carburetor:
Holley #80541-1 or 80541-3 Gauge legal 650
Spacer Plate:
Up to 1 ½” Spacer
Fuel Pump:
Must be block mounted mechanical on the right front corner of the engine. #10 inlet #8 outlet
Ignition:
Box type with Rev Chip RPM Max 6200
Belt and Pulley System:
Belt drives ONLY.
Any power steering pump or alternator must be located in the front of the engine.
NO other accessories allowed!
Header and Exhaust:
Headers must be steel tube, NO stainless steel, or coatings. Header maybe hooked into existing exhaust.
No EVAC systems to the valve covers.
Transmission/Bellhousing & Clutch:
4-speed no over driven gears.
Racing bellhousing reverse mount start permitted. Mini clutches ONLY.
Driveshaft:
Steel 3 1/2” minimum
Rear End:
Floater rear end with steel hubs. 9 in Ford or quick-change center sections with steel tubes ONLY. Cars with be subject to ratio Rule TBA.
Fuel cells:
18 or 22 Gallon. NO electric or cable driven fuel pumps.
Bodies:
Any steel template body ran in NASCAR/ARCA competition up to 2018 with roof flaps.
Any car prior to 2002 roof flaps not required. Nose end tail pieces must match make and model of car body. (Must be approved by Tech Director)
Approval of any body or car part can be obtained via text or email to Tech Director.
Weight and Percentage penalties can occur.
Spoiler:
5 ½ inches tall by 57 inches wide
It is your responsibility to see that your car is legal. No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through tech inspection unobserved.
In keeping with Salem Speedway’s commitment to maintaining proper balance in the competition arena, it may be necessary for Salem Speedway to make rule changes and/or rule modifications from time to time. Such changes are designed to enhance close competition. For competitive balance, Salem Speedway reserves the right to change, modify, delete, or add to aby guidelines as deemed necessary throughout the season.

These rules are subject to change as conditions warrant without notice. All general guidelines for participants; including Guidelines Disclaimer, Safety, Racing Rules, Conduct, Substance Abuse Policy, Official Decisions, etc.; listed in the 2019 Salem Speedway “Official Rules and Regulations” book apply unless otherwise stated in these rules.
All cars will display a one- or two-digit number series (0-99) as assigned. No duplicate numbers allowed. Numbers reserved on a first come-first-serve basis with a $30 Number Registration Fee. 2022 numbers guaranteed until Feb. 15, 2023.
